Todd Duermyer | Civil Service Council | SIU

Todd came to SIU in 2019 after 13 years of work in the television broadcast industry.  As Cinematographer/Creative Video Producer for SIU’s University Communications & Marketing, he has the honor to tell the many stories of SIU through video.  Videos can be found on the main SIU website, academic websites, social media, YouTube and other social media platforms.  During the semesters, he leads a team consisting of a mixture of undergraduate and Graduate Assistants, training them to be video/photo professionals themselves as they help to complete the many projects that University Communications & Marketing takes care of.  When stories call for it, Todd is also one of the licensed and university approved drone pilots to fly over the campus and (with the correct procedure followed) at the Transportation Education Center at the Southern Illinois Airport in Murphysboro. 

First nominated to the Civil Service Council in 2022 and serving on the Range, Education Assistance, Bylaws, Elections, Public Information, Staff Excellence and Honorary Degree & Distinguished Service Award Committees, Todd has had the honor to recommend scholarships, fundraising efforts for scholarships, assist with the Flea Market, analyze and recommend honorary doctorate degrees awarded in the May commencement ceremony, and numerous other methods of service to the Civil Service employees, administration, staff, faculty, and students of SIU. 

Off campus, Todd enjoys spending time with his family consisting of his wife Kristena, children Chris and Kynleigh and pupper Moonshine.  Be it gardening, helping his kids with sports, their education, playing video games (mobile, console and VR), cooking or being active in their church, life is anything but slow.  Todd will complete his MBA: Marketing Concentration degree with SIU in the fall and plans on walking in the commencement in May of 2025.
