Dawn Legier

Dawn is a 20-plus year transplant to Southern Illinois, beginning her career at SIU in 1996.  Since then, she has worked in areas both academic (Rehabilitation Institute, Workforce Education and Development) and administrative (Graduate School, Office of Equity and Compliance), in classifications from Office Support Associate to Office Administrator.  Dawn left SIU in 2008 to check off a bucket list item and headed to Rend Lake College as a student in the Culinary Arts program.  Among the lessons learned was that, while she enjoys cooking and especially baking, a career in food service was not in her future.  In 2012, Dawn returned to SIU to try to get her 20 years.  She currently works in the Office of Equity and Compliance where she spends part of her time trying to convince faculty, staff, and students to complete their online training.

Dawn and her husband, John, live with their two dogs and her five (yes, five!) birds, where quiet time doesn’t exist.  In her so-called leisure time, Dawn participates in activities and fundraising efforts as an officer of the board of directors of the Humane Society of Southern Illinois.  She enjoys collecting antiques for which she has no room, baking pastries she shouldn’t eat, planning travel itineraries she may or may not ever use, and harbors fantastical dreams of retiring to Scotland.
