Lorrie Lefler began her career at SIU working as an Account Technician I at the Division of Continuing Education.  She was soon promoted to Account Technician III and was responsible for all accounting within the Division as well as serving as assistant to the Director.  In 2007, she took a position as Administrative Assistant at the SIU Alumni Association where she served as the Executive Director’s assistant and the Board of Directors’ secretary.  In June 2010, Lorrie went back to the Division of Continuing Education as a Conference Coordinator where she planned, developed, and implemented a variety of Continuing education programs and activities.  The Associate Vice Chancellor of Auxiliaries selected Lorrie to serve as the Interim Director of the Division in 2011 when the Director retired.  Lorrie served in this capacity until September 2012 when she became Administrative Assistant to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Auxiliary Services.  In 2014, Lorrie’s position changed to Business/Administrative Associate and she reported to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.  In this role, Lorrie provides interpretation of policies, guidelines and procedures in order to facilitate timely and appropriate responses to questions and concerns directed to the Vice Chancellor and her administrative staff.  She handles matters related to fiscal management and personnel as well as provides administrative assistance and support to the VC as well as the Dean of Students.  Lorrie was newly elected to the Council in 2020.

A US Navy Veteran, Lorrie is married to Tim and they have three children and eight grandchildren.  She got her undergraduate degree in Accounting from Kennesaw State University in 2001 and her MBA from Southern Illinois Carbondale in 2007.  She and Tim reside in Royalton where they enjoy spending time with their family.
